外籍劳工移民美国申请表格 I-140 分为三大类：EB1, EB2, EB3
EB1类别代表申请者可能是：具有非凡能力的寄居者(An alien of extraordinary ability, EB1A)；杰出教授或研究员(An outstanding professor or researcher, EB1B)；跨国高管或经理(A multinational executive or manager, EB1C).
EB2类别代表申请者可能是：具有高等学位或学士学位且至少具有5年学士学位后工作经验的专业人士，或者具有特殊才能的外国人(A member of the professions holding an advanced degree or bachelor's degree with minimum of 5 years work experience post-bachelor's degree or an alien of exceptional ability)；申请国家利益豁免的外国人，须拥有高级学位或具有特殊才能（An alien applying for a National Interest Waiver who is a member of the professions holding an advanced degree or an alien of exceptional ability).
