Noah's Ark

Noah built the wooden ark in which he, his family, and the animals escaped the waters of the flood.
The ark was 450 feet long, as long as 1 and a half football fields put end to end. It was 45 feet high , as tall as a five-story building. It had windows-probably long, continuous windows-that ran along the length of the ark just under the roof. The door must have been quite large to allow for entry of large animals.

The Tower of Babel

The tower of Babel was probably a ziggurat, A ziggurat was a tall structure, like a pyramid, with stairs on the outside. These towers often had a temple on top, where people tried to reach heaven with prayers to false gods. God wanted the people to love and worship Him, not false gods.

The Nile

The Nile is one of the longest rivers in the world. The people of Egypt lived along the top, or northern, part of the river. Every year the river overflowed, leaving rich new soil where crops could grow. When other lands that depended on rainfall for their water supply had famines, there was often still food in Egypt.

Moses' Basket Boat

The Egyptians built boats by tying together bundles of dried papyrus reeds. The papyrus reed basket that Moses' mother made probably looked like one of those boats.
