Adam

God created Adam, the first human being, in His own image. That means in many ways Adam was like God. God made Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him. God place Adam in the Garden of Eden to take care of it.

Eve

God did not want Adam to be alone, so He created a helper for him. Her name was Eve, and God made her from one of Adam's ribs. Adam and Eve lived together in the Garden of Eden.

Noah

Noah was a good man who loved God even when no one else did. He trusted God and followed God's instructions to build an ark. God saved Noah and his family from a flood that destroyed the world.

Abraham

Abraham obeyed God and left his relatives and country because God told him to go to a new land far away. God promised to give Abraham many children. Abraham believed God's promises, and God gave him and his wife a son when they were very old. This son later had his own children, and in this way Abraham became the "father of many"(Genesis17:5)

Sarah

Sarah was Abraham's wife. She was sad because she did not have any children. God promised Sarah a son, but she laughed because she was already old. God kept His promise, and Sarah's son, Isaac, was born.

Hagar

Hagar was Sarah's slave. Because Sarah was childless, she gave her slave Hagar to Abraham to be his wife also. This was a common practice in Bible time. However, if the slave had a child, as Hagar did, the child belonged to the first wife, not the slave.

Isaac

Isaac was Abraham and Sarah's son, and he trusted in God. Because God blessed him, Isaac became very wealthy. Isaac married Rebekah when he was 40 years old, and together they had twin sons, Esau and Jacob.

Rebekah

Rebekah was a kind and beautiful girl. She agreed to leave her family to marry Isaac, who lived in a faraway country called Canaan. Isaac loved Rebekah, and she comforted him after his mother died.

Jacob

Jacob was a quiet, clever man who cheated his twin brother, Esau, out of his inheritance. Jacob left his home and went to a country far away to escape his angry brother. God promised to watch over Jacob wherever he went.

Rachel

Rachel was the beautiful younger daughter of Laban, Jacob's uncle. Jacob loved Rachel and promised to work Laban for seven years so he could marry her. Laban cheated Jacob, who ended up working 14 years for his uncle.

Moses

Moses was a Hebrew who was rescued as a baby and raised by an Egyptian princess. God chose Moses to rescue the Israelites, who were slaves to the Egyptians. But Moses was afraid that he couldn't do what God asked him to do. God promised He will be with him.

Aaron

Aaron, Moses' brother, was not afraid to tell people what God said. Aaron was the first high priest of the Israelites, and he obeyed God's instructions. He told Pharaoh the ruler of Egypt, that God was punishing him so that he would let the Israelites go.
